- PublicationVoltage stability evaluation using indexes based on static and dynamic simulations(2024-12-04)Mohd Kairuldin Abd RahmanIn the time of rapid growth, there is an increase of demand due to build up many factory and heavy industry around the world. Due to this, utility companies are forced to operate their power system nearer to its maximum capabilities since system expansion may be a costly option. The utility companies operate power system at maximum capabilities cause the power system will be at risk to voltage collapse. Voltage collapse gave bad impact to the power system operation. The ultimate effect of voltage collapse would be total system collapse which would incur high losses to utility companies. This project evaluates voltage stability of selected system(s) based on static and dynamic analysis using PSSE software with various types of index. The indexes involved in analysis such as Fast Voltage Stability Index (FVSI), Line Stability Index (Lmn), Line Stability Factor (LQP) and Line Voltage Stability Index (Lvsi). The indexes used to identify of weakness at line and in power system. The analysis started with nine bus static and dynamic simulation and further with thirty bus static and dynamic simulation. Every simulation is divided to three cases analysis. Every cases have own purpose and it more referring to base case analysis. The detail analysis are presented in all cases static and dynamic simulation.
15 3 - PublicationAnalysis on power system behavior subjected to symmetrical and unsymmetrical fault using PSS/E software(2024-12-04)Hasrul Rafandi HaroonPower System, behaves differently during normal and abnormal conditions. It is for important to analyze the behaviour of power system at both conditions for planning and design purpose in order to make sure that the system remains in stable condition with its critical parameters within the acceptable limits. This project will focus on the analysis of power system behaviour during normal and abnormal conditions including symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults. To design a better system for the power utility, was conduck & a study must be made to find the behaviour of the system during the occurrence of to fault in order/determine the weakness and the condition of the system and then develop the new idea for improving the power system. For this analysis, PSS/E simulation will be used in modelling the system and simulating the system according to the various types of fault that may occur in the power system.
7 2 - PublicationEffect of sample preparation on superconducting properties of gamma irradiated BI-2212 superconductor(2024-12-04)Ahmad Fauzan ZakariaFrom the past decades, successful improvements have been made to enhance the mechanical and electrical property of superconductor. One of the most studied materials is the Bi-2212 high temperature superconductor. In this research, the effects of sample preparation of gamma irradiated Bi-2212 samples were studied. Bi-2212 was synthesized by co-precipitation and solid state reaction method. Both of the specimens were subjected to gamma irradiation dose of 100kGy. Sample prepared by solid state reaction method showed a higher transition temperature but lower critical current density compared to co-precipitation method. When subjected to gamma ray irradiation dose of 100kGy, zero-resistivity temperature improved significantly from 21K to 68K while critical current density plummeted from 123 to 96mA/cm2. It can be established that gamma irradiation amended the superconducting property but degraded the transport property of Bi-2212 superconductor.
13 2 - PublicationStudy on the problems of auto transmission gearbox for vehicle(2015)Qamaruzzaman MohammadThis thesis basically reports the problems of automatic transmission gearbox for vehicle. Fundamentally, the study on autonomy and the working principles, investigation on the problems, and to come out with approaches and remedies to overcome the problems of the automatic transmission in ensuring the reliability and durability have become the main purpose of the research. Overhauling processes of the automatic transmissions had been done to ensure the thoroughness of the problems investigation of the automatic transmission which had been conducted and completed in a workshop. The approaches and steps in ensuring the transmission durability and reliability over its lifespan depend on the problems and causes which in most cases the components are needed to be replaced as solutions. In addition, most of the problems had been diagnosed and been identified are caused by lots of factors of the transmission itself and the handling manner of the owner. Hence, the durability and reliability of the auto transmission gearbox do not depend only on the technology it built in, but in the human nature as well.
36 33 - PublicationDesign of a shell eco marathon Asia vehicle-prototype using hydrogen fuel cell(2017)Srithayvaan MuniasparanThis thesis is about design an environmentally friendly prototype car that operates efficiently on hydrogen fuel cells. The vehicle is constructed according to 2016 Shell Eco Marathon rules and regulations, where it consist of 3 wheels, light weight build for race purpose. The goals of this project are to achieve a fuel efficient prototype vehicle with small rolling resistance aerodynamics and light in weight. This project is a wide scoped project various of several technical engineering methods such as CAD (computer aided design), CFD (computational fluid dynamics), management skills such as communication and marketing. The prototype is build using aluminum T6061- T6 alloy for the chassis and the body is build using carbon fibre The vehicle comprised of 3 wheels, two piece of 17 inch tyres and a single 18 inch tyre for the rear part. The steering system was built by referring to the Ackerman's principle. CFD analysis is done to the body of the vehicle at 50km/hour speed. The drag coefficient is calculated. The stress and displacement analysis is also included to study the maximum possible damage in case of a coalition.
