Ultrasonic ranging system

Ultrasonic Ranging System uses the reflection property of sound wave to work. The device can measure the distance between two point by simply emit or transmit the short burst of ultrasonic wave and listening for an echo. The distance can be computed by multiply the speed of sound (approximately 1065 feet per second= 324.612 meter per second) by the time take by the emitted signal to return (time divide by 2). The ultrasonic ranging system device consists of three main parts: transmitter, receiver and the timing circuit. The design is purely hardware including the timing circuit. The circuit is activate when the trigger is pulled.

Web based temperature control-heat bar experiment

The aim and objective of this project is to allow users to monitor the results of experiment via the Internet from remote places, which will be most beneficial for distance learning process. The particular experiment in this project is the 'heat bar experiment'. This system uses eight thermocouple wires to sense the heat distribution along a heat-conducting bar. The variation of temperature is controlled by a heater, which is connected to a heat bar through a personal computer using a computer programming language called the LabVIEW.

Ag-sheathed T1-1212 tapes with a nominal composition of (T1Cr)SrCaCuO were fabricated using the powder-in-tube (PIT) method. Two sets of samples were annealed in oxygen flow at 800C and 890C each for 30 minutes. Another set was annealed at 800C for 1 hour. The tapes showed transition temperature, T between 80K to 100K.

This project is being carrying out for analyzing the current system, reservation of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) bungalows. This current system is manually implemented in Administration & Welfare Services, Human Resource Division, TNB Headquarters, Jalan Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. After analyzing the current system, the result shows that there are problems arise while implementing the current system. The problem such as time consuming during processing the application, difficulties in keeping track of application and staff/retiree records, and difficulties in producing reports, affect the work productivity. As a result, a new computerized system is designed to overcome those problems.

The transport critical current of AG-Sheathed (T1,Cr) Sr2CaCu2O7 superconductor tapes

The measurement of the transport critical current of T1-1212 superconductor tapes at three different annealing temperature and time were completed and recorded using the 1uV/cm criteria. The superconductor tapes labeled asM1, M10 and M11 were annealed at temperature of 890C for 30 minutes, 800C for 30 minutes and 800C for 1 hour respectively. The readings for the V-1 characteristics were obtained through the implementation of the standard four-point probe attached to the superconductor tapes and immersed in the boiling temperature of liquid nitrogen. The values of the V-1 characteristics were converted to uV/cm values by dividing the voltage values with the length of two voltage probes. From 1uV/cm criteria for the three tapes, we found that M10 has the highest value of critical current, I and no critical current was obtained sample M1.

The objective of the project is to expose the author with engineering design work and also to fulfill the University requirement. The project was started with some literature review that is supposed to make the author understand the theory and the basics of gyroscope. For the project, the author has design the gyroscope conceptually and completely chooses the component needed for this project. The author chooses the Farnell's potentiometer, oriental motor's DC motor, SKF's Y bearing and stainless steel as a body material. For the conclusion, the objective of project to expose the student with engineering work is quite successful to me with what I am experienced for the project and my three-axis gyroscope design can be use to sense an attitude in three axis.

The gathered theory had helped us to design and implement the circuit for the thesis.

The study basically, is made to investigate the flow pattern and flow pattern and flow characteristic in spiral casing and to compare the effects of new stay vanes profile with existing, which are a flat plate, and also to investigate the capability of the CFD-ACE software. This project is mainly based on the report of upgrading project of the Francis turbine, Unit 3 of Sirikit Dam in Thailand.
