Abstract
Renewable energy plays an important role in pursuing a more sustainable and greener environment in the world. One of the natural resources that could be used as renewable energy to produce electricity is wind energy. Due to low wind energy blowing in our country, Malaysia, wind energy is not quite a popular renewable source to generate electricity. This project researches the potential of implementing wind turbines in Malaysia. Wind mapping methods are used to search for suitable locations in Malaysia to implement the wind turbines. The project also investigates the power generated by the wind turbine is sufficient enough to contribute to at least 0.15% of the power distributed by the utility stations in the particular area. Moreover, different factors such as wind variations and different rotor distances will be used to determine the effects of power generation of wind turbine based on these two factors.
