Abstract
This paper presents the application of a modified Artificial Immune System (AIS) technique to determine the optimal location and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) in transmission network. The technique is termed as Multistage Artificial Immune System (MAIS). The IEEE 26-Bus Reliability Test System (RTS) has been utilized to conduct the implementation. Prior to the MAIS deployment, the original Artificial Immune System (AIS) technique has been used to find the optimal placement of the DG units in the IEEE 26-Bus RTS. This is for comparative study purposes. Three case studies with different conditions of transmission network have been introduced in finding the optimal location and sizing of the DG units. It is found that MAIS is superior than the original AIS in finding the optimal placement of the DG units in the transmission network in terms of producing low total system loss. 2020, World Academy of Research in Science and Engineering.
