Abstract
Offshore sediments is a kind of soft clay which relatively new and needs more exploration. Malaysia is a country that constantly has offshore activities either old % gas related or building underwater cable. The study on the geotechnical properties on Malaysia's offshore sediments is very important in the developing the knowledge on the offshore sediments properties around Malaysia. Although there are a lot of studies been done on the offshore sediments in other locations, those results couldn't represent the exact properties of Malaysia's offshore sediments.
In this project, basic geotechnical testing on the offshore sediment will be done on the initial phase to quickly identify the index properties of the offshore sediments. The main purpose of the project is to investigate on the mechanical properties of offshore sediments by means of conducting Consolidated Undrained Triaxial Test. From the test, various parameters are extracted and compared under different criteria. Furthermore, comparison with testing done by other researchers will be layout to show the consistency and discrepancy of the results.
