Malaysia has targeted to achieve 20% of renewable energy by 2025. Therefore, many programmes have been introduced by the government just to encourage Malaysians to have interests on renewable energy. Recently, Solar Photovoltaic sector is on the rise. Therefore, this study aims to propose a design and analyse the performance of the Solar Photovoltaic system. The performance of the photovoltaic system depends on the geographical location, solar irradiance, type of PV module and orientation of the module as well as the dimension of the area. A guidebook from Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia provides all the relevant theoretical calculations for the theoretical performance analysis purposes. Several software programs are chosen to design and simulate the solar PV system using a real-world condition which is PVsyst, SolarMAT (MATLAB) and System Advisor Model (SAM). This study provides the performances and losses analysis using theoretical calculation as well as simulation software. It helps to determine whether the project can be implemented by considering the technical results and the requirements given by SEDA Malaysia.en_US
