dc.description.abstractInterlocking soil cement blocks are affordable and environmentally sustainable alternative to fired bricks. They are made from soil stabilized with cement, compressed in manually operated machines, and dried in the sun. When stacked, ridges on the top of one block fit into slots on the bottom of the next block, and side ridges fit into side slots of corresponding blocks. In this project the technology of adding reinforcement and post-tensioning was introduced for this type of bricks. A combination of both is also tested to find out what is the maximum out-of-plane load that the wall can take. The scope of work was narrowed down in this project to test three types of walls with different number of reinforcement, and a different combination of both of it. The results obtained from the test were analyzed to find out that post-tensioned interlocking bricks are very appropriate with great results that could enhance the strength of the wall. Analyzed results show a suitable combination of reinforcement and post-tensioned.
