Abstract
This paper aims to examine and analyse the relationship between the factors that influence the adoption of cashless payment among consumers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. The research model used concepts from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which are perceived of usefulness and perceived ease of use. An additional four independent variables were used from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) which are: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. To analyse the relationship between these variables, this research used an online questionnaire to gather the data from participants. A total of 231 people answered the survey. To go further into the understanding of the variables influencing consumers' use of cashless payment methods, this study conducted descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis to further analyse the variable. The adoption of cashless payment was shown to have a significantly positive influence on all independent variables. Meanwhile, when compared to another variable, performance expectancy has the most significant influence on using cashless payments by consumers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The results obtained are expected to be essential to merchants, service providers, and the government to understand consumers' demands and concerns as Malaysia wants to transform into a cashless society. Keywords: Cashless payment, perceived of usefulness, perceived of ease of use, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating condition.
