Abstract
The realization of vehicle to grid technology requires the development of an appropriate bidirectional electric vehicle charger. This paper presents the development of a bidirectional vehicle to grid charger, which consists of a front-end bidirectional AC/DC converter and a back-end bidirectional buck-boost DC/DC converter, separated by DC-link capacitor. The developed charger enables bidirectional active power flow, as well as voltage regulation function for grid support. The feasibility of the developed charger has been investigated under various operation modes. The results show that the developed charger can effectively provide grid voltage regulation during both electric vehicle charging and discharging operations. 2016 IEEE.
