Abstract
Globally, emerging economies are seeing profound changes in the gas industry reform because of evolving energy regulations, market dynamics, and increased emphasis on sustainability. As a result, it is important to examine the different policy interventions and regulatory reforms designed to foster competition, encourage investment in infrastructure development, and facilitate the liberalization of gas markets. This chapter discusses an analysis of the development of market structures over time, including the implementation of trading platforms, spot markets, and liquefied natural gas terminals to increase market efficiency and liquidity. The significance of gas industry reforms in promoting a robust, competitive, and sustainable energy sector in emerging economies is emphasized. The overall objective of this chapter is to educate policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers on the dynamics influencing the future of the gas sector in different areas by clarifying the present situation and major developments. ?
