In Malaysia the favored approach of disposal is landfill and most of landfill in Malaysia is still open dumping type. The soil at the dumping area are mixed with waste and soil. Thus, it was called as waste soil. Due to its heterogeneity properties, waste soil has a different settlement rate. The Hyperbolic Function model, under the empirical model was proposed to compute the settlement at a given time if the ultimate settlement of a dumping area is known. This Hyperbolic Function model is one of the settlement model that can be used for waste soil sample although further affirmation with experimental setup are needed in order to precisely predict the long-term settlement at the dumping area. The Hyperbolic Function model can capture the relationship between the ultimate settlement and time. The sample of waste soil is taken from closed dumping area in Lukut and all the geotechnical properties for the waste soil was obtained. The initial rate of settlement, ?0 is the constant. As for the ultimate settlement, Sult the height of the waste overlaying the soil that are based on monitoring and observation. And t is the time since application of load until projection time. The final settlement which was obtained in in the range as stated by Ling in which it is in between 80% - 95% of the ultimate settlement. In the first case the final settlement is 1.37m and it is about 90% of the ultimate settlement and for the second case, the final settlement is 1.76m and is about 88% of the ultimate settlement. 2015 ejge.en_US
