This thesis is prepared to present on the investigation that has been done to determine the cooling behavior and effectiveness of film cooling system for gas turbine blade. Before proceeding with any analysis, two test cases are being planned in order to prove the capability of CFD in conducting analysis. Once proved, main analysis is done on the blade by varying its velocity ratio. As a result, forming of vortex in pathlines of coolants is identified to have contributed in the reduction of cooling effectiveness. Besides, an increase in velocity of coolant is proved to have results in the reduction of static temperature and causes an increased in cooling effectiveness of larger area. It is also important to note that among tree main cases, cases of 100 m/s hot inlet is producing highest cooling effectiveness with lowest area of coolant coverage while the 300 m/s hot inlet is giving out highest area for coolant coverage but with lowest cooling effectiveness in each area. At last, analysis of area weighted average also is being conducted to identify the cases with lowest average static temperature.
