Abstract
The current research was to examine the mechanical properties of composite material made of vinyl ester filled with fly ash of various weight percentages. Before fabrication the amount of fly ash and resin were identified by using the Multi Criteria Decision Making technique (MCDM). The best filler weight percentage of 5 wt% is determined by using Weighted Aggregate Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) which is one of the MCDM methods. The virgin samples of vinyl esters are mixed with weight of 5 wt%fly ash by incremental of 5 wt% up to 20 wt%. All the mechanical tests of the specimen were conducted as per ASTM standards. Subsequently based on the results from the WASPAS method of fly ash content, the basalt fabric was reinforced with fly ash filled vinyl ester to fabricate the hybrid composites. By the mixing of fly-ash with vinyl ester the strength of the fly ash filled composites has been found to be enhanced in the filler. The results from the mechanical testing signified that fly ash can be used as filler material in basalt fabric reinforced vinyl ester resin. The fly ash infused basalt fibre reinforced yields significant development in mechanical performance contrast to the other fabricated composites. ? 2024
