Abstract
The global concern over environmental issues has prompted progress in the transportation sector by introducing electric vehicles (EVs). It provides environmental protection because it utilizing a source that produced no emission to power the propulsion system which resulting in improvement of air quality. The technology recently experienced advancement that leads to a new charging method for EVs. This study reports on the new charging system that is the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. The aim is to study whether energy in batteries can be transfer back to the power grid through EV charging station (EVCS). The impact from the technology is analysed as it may affect the grid reliability especially the power quality due to disturbances from energy transformation. Research in EV related technology are required to understand the concept of V2G and model the EVCS with V2G capability properly. The techniques used to construct the system presented in this report. Simulation studies is conduct to observe the power transfer between the charging station and utility grid. Then, analysis on EVCS model is implement to investigate the total harmonics distortion in the power grid.
