Many organizations worldwide in both developed and developing countries are increasingly investing in BI systems to support decisions, improve overall performance, and enhance competitiveness. However, several BI projects, particularly in developing countries were found to face failure. The key reason for this failure is the lack of understanding on the critical success factors (CSFs) that define the key success areas of BI implementation. Moreover, lack of experiences among organization in handling this emerging technological trend is also an issues. Organizations are suffering from shortage of awareness and knowledge on the critical factors that contribute to manage and optimize their resources and efforts to ensure the successful implementation of BI systems. In the Jordanian context, despite the increase in the adoption of BI systems in both public and private sectors, there is lack of empirical evidence on success factors that assist Jordanian organization in proper implementation of BI systems. The implementation of BI systems in Jordanian public sector organizations is new and important which requires further investigation. Jordan is witnessing a dramatic change in IS and IT that support decision-making process at the public sector organizations. However, the investigation of critical factors for BI systems in the context ofJordanian public sector has been ignored in the existing literature. Therefore, the major aim of this research isto investigate the critical factors for BI systems implementation in Jordanian public sector organizations for BI systems that affect BI success. This study will also investigate the relationship between the critical factors and BI success in public sector organizations and propose a model for BI success in public sector organizations. This study adopts a quantitative approach using survey method with the aim of achieving reliable perspective on the effect of the critical factors towards BI success. The quantitative survey is the main data collection method, followed by model validation by experts as a complementary data collection method to support and confirm quantitative findings. In addition, the structural model was developed with the aim of testing 31 hypothesized relationships among constructs using Smart-PLS technique. The findings of this study revealed that top management support, clear vision and welldefined plan, decentralized organizational structure, team skills, user participation, and development technology are the critical factors that affect the BI success in Jordanian public sector organizations. Moreover, the findings of model validation by experts added further interpretation on how the factors are effectual for BI success in public sector organizationsen_US
