Abstract
This thesis reports the reliability condition of gas turbine generators in Erb West using a reliability analysis method of Mean Time Between Failure. The reliability of these generators is important as they are the heart of power supply in Erb West offshore platform. These generators are the main driving force in ensuring uninterrupted oil and gas supply delivery to the onshore terminal providing that all other auxiliary systems such as pumps and compressors are in healthy condition. The oil and gas supply goes to Sabah Gas Terminal, which has two independent power producer clients that feeds power generation to the Sabah Grid. To prevent Sabah Grid from collapsing, it is essential for the gas supply to the clients to be uninterrupted. Hence, it is of utmost importance of not major breakdowns on the generators. This project serves three objectives which are to identify critical failure mode that will result in gas turbine generator unavailability, to analyse Mean Time Between Failure for the gas turbine generators at Erb West facility and to recommend improvements in maintenance plan to increase Mean Time Between Failure of gas turbine generators. By using quantitative and qualitative observation, the author will manage to create case scenarios to evaluate the reliability and performance of the gas turbine generators.
