Abstract
This thesis is about experimental investigation on a heat exchanger with hybrid nanofluids and optimization using response surface methodology. There are two main objectives of this experiment. Firstly, is to experimentally investigate the thermal performance of heat exchanger using hybrid nanofluids and compare with water. Secondly is to experimentally investigate the thermal performance of heat exchanger using different concentration of hybrid nanofluids. The hybrid nanofluids used are Al2O3-CuO hybrid nanofluids with base fluids of water-EG. Three samples of concentration were prepared which are 0.02%, 0.04% and 0.06%. Two steps method were used to prepare the hybrid nanofluids with ratio of 60:40 of water and EG. Two input parameters have been tested in experiment which is varying the maximum temperature of tank and operating pump speed. The mathematical formula was used to analyse the data and calculated the properties of hybrid nanofluids and heat transfer flux. The result exhibits that hybrid nanofluids give better thermal performance compared to water and the higher the concentration of nanofluids shows the better heat transfer performance.
