Solar tracking is a system or mechanism that follows the light source direction. The system is using solar panel that automatically follows the direction of the light source. When the solar panel direction faces to the light source, the output always produces maximum power. This project is about a development of simple dual axis solar tracking system where the solar panel will face directly to the mobile light source. No matter how the light source changes its position, the solar panel will always face to that source in order to get a maximum light intensity. The project uses Arduino microcontroller and Raspberry Pi to achieve the tracking objectives besides efficiency enhancement of the system output voltage. There are two servo motors used in the system. One is at the azimuth axis and the other one is at the zenith axis. The azimuth axis motor will rotate the solar panel in horizontal axis whereas the zenith axis motor will rotate the solar panel in vertical axis. The system also uses two pairs of LDR sensors. One pair is for north - south direction to detect the light source and the other pair is for east - west direction to detect the light source. With the combine of two servo motors in dual axis, the complex motion of light source can be track.
