This paper presents the impact of injection of active and reactive current during low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) events of utility-scale PV generators on the behaviour and stability of a power system. Injection of additional reactive current and active current limitation during LVRT is considered following grid codes requirements in Germany. The German grid code prioritizes reactive current injection for dynamic voltage support. This paper also derives a method of injection of active and reactive current during LVRT by changing the current ratio based on the connection-code requirements of the Malaysian grid code. The study is carried out via simulations using DIgSILENT software on a modified IEEE 9-bus system. Results from the simulation are compared and discussed showing that the bus voltage profile fares better when priority is given to injection of capacitive reactive current during an LVRT event. 2018 IEEE.en_US
