This paper examines the impact of global oil prices on renewable energy consumption in Malaysia. Renewable energy consumption is the dependent variable, and there are 3 independent variables which are global oil price, economic growth, and CO2 emissions, where global oil price is the main independent variable in this research. A quantitative study has been conducted for this research by utilizing secondary data obtained from Our World in Data (OWID) and the World Bank (WB). For the data spanning the 30-year period from 1993 to 2022, multiple regression analysis has been performed in order to assess how the independent variables impacts the dependent variable. The findings of this study reveal that global oil pricesimpacts consumption of renewable energy negatively in which it is statistically significant. Whereas, renewable energy consumption is impacted by economic growth and CO2 emissions positively, in which it is statistically significant. According to these results, the government of Malaysia should concentrate on diversifying the energy mix of the nation through the promotion of renewable energy production and consumption, so as to guarantee energy security and its affordability in Malaysia.
