The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the design of a microstrip patch antenna. The design of the antennas is to have a working frequency of 1000Mhz with the bandwidth percentage that is lower than 10% and to achieve positive gain. The thesis will discuss on the reasoning to use spot frequency for the smallest possible bandwidth for partial discharge applications. The microstrip has a modified T-shape and is made from copper and FR-4 as the chosen materials. Copper material is used as the patch and the ground, while FR-4 is used at the substrate with the dielectric constant of 4.4.en_US
