Careful selection of electrode material, configuration, dimensions, number and the inter electrode distance can improve the spatial resolution of the reconstructed images in electrical impedance tomography (EIT) applications. Considering the best of these features, a wet, non-polarizable circular, single type, Ag/AgCl electrode of 10mm diameter is chosen for the study. The inter electrode distance is maintained as per the standard of 20 mm. An EIT system with eight electrodes was developed and studied for different excitation methods and measurement techniques. The statistical analysis suggest that the adjacent method with a standard deviation as low as 0.06 is still the most suitable excitation method for mono polar voltage measurements. International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering 2016.en_US
