This thesis reports the case study about the designation of electrical installations in the electrical distribution substation. The electrical substation is a part of an important segment in electrical distribution system. It functions to transform the voltage from high to low so that the power is readily used to the customers. There are many aspects to consider in the designation of substation so that it is operating under an optimum condition. The objective of this thesis is to forecast the lifespan of the substation by studying the electrical installations in the substation and the planning process in TNB. In order to forecast the lifespan of the substation, the power flow analysis is done to show the power flow through the electrical installations with a constant load growth demand. With a constant load growth, the substation is expected to serve the customer for the longest twenty-five years under optimum condition. The longer the lifespan of the substation, the more the operating cost of utility company can be reduced. Therefore, a proper planning and designation of the substation is crucial to reduce the cost of operating in utility company.
