There are several benefits to the microstrip antenna over the traditional microwave antenna. Such types of antennas are made to fit light weight, low volume and thin profile. The cost of manufacturing is also small, and can be manufactured in large quantities. Microstrip antennas will be explored in this phase. The aim of this project is to build a microstrip antenna that will operate on the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) using Flame Retardant 4 (FR4) substrates, Porcelain substrates and Rubber substrates. The frequency chosen for the microstrip antenna is 5.8GHz and used for Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) networks has been selected from 802.11ac. The project is divided into three major sections, namely design, simulation, and design of hardware. Studio software Computer Simulation Technology (CST) has been used to study patterns of antenna radiation before producing antennas.en_US
