Abstract
Even though existing CR simulations are abundantly and publicly available, a simpler and easier implementation of the CR simulation network would significantly assist new researchers to embark in their CR-related study. This paper introduced a CR simulation network model designed using OMNET++4.6 and INETMANET 2.0. In this CR simulation network model, the existing modules in INETMANET are adapted for the modules that made up the CR network. Ping protocol is adapted to simulate the data transmission. Two tests are conducted to validate the developed CR simulation network. The result of the first test indicates PU has higher priority transmission on the PU channel when both PU and SU have data to transmit. The result of the second test shows SU access the PU channel for transmission while PU is in its idle state. It confirms that SU exists in the PU environment during the PU idle state. Both tests verify the CR simulation network has been successfully implemented as SU able to utilize the idle PU channel without interfering the PU transmission. 2016 IEEE.
