Superconductive high-temperature Bismuth-based Bi-2212 phase is synthesized by co- precipitation method for this research project. This method was used regularly for BSCCO sample preparation. Precursors powder was pressed to pellets with a hydraulic press machine at 7 tons and then sintered with temperature of 850 °C for 48 hours. Preparations to synthesize the sample is carried out in the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). For this project, x-ray diffraction (XRD) test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) test is conducted at Malaysian Nuclear Agency (MNA). The XRD analysis is used to check for Bi-2212 phase from the prepared sample and SEM is used to analysed microstructure of the sample. The samples also tested of compression test used for the mechanical characteristics of the superconductors which carried out in Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) research centre. From the results obtained, it can be said that by having more intergranular ties to denser structured grains, the preparation of the sample by co-precipitation method is better than that of the solid state. This resulted in a better physical property in the co-precipitation method specimen compared to the solid-state method.
