Abstract
Solar energy is part of renewable energy that is easy to get. It does not need turbine, just only a specify plate to trap the sun energy to be converted to electrical energy. Usually, solar panel are placed on the empty land that will require some space and area to locate all the related components or sometimes, there are placed on the roof top of building. The main problem of land requirements is somehow unavailable and costly. Due to the limitation, the solution for this problem is to place the solar place on the water that will not only save the land but also increase the amount of generation through its cooling effect. Through this solution, solar energy can generate more energy and can reduce the carbon emissions. Modelling and simulation of floating solar PV is done in this paper for streetlight at Kelompok Ilmu, UNITEN. The simulation for the system is used to store the energy in the battery of 720 Ah. The subsystem include boost converter, bidirectional converter and Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) are used in the whole system. A mini scale prototype was also built to show and prove the function of floating solar to energize the load. The cost of prototype also has been analyzed in this paper to show the budget need to develop the small system.
