Abstract
Concrete is made of material which include of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water. Cement is the main material that being used in concrete. Production of cement produce a huge amount carbon dioxide gas which affects the global warming. One of the best was to reduce the production of carbon dioxide is to reduce the production of cement by replacing a supplementary materials in concrete. Water hyacinth is a fast growing aquartic plant in ponds and lakes which can double up the quantity withing two weeks period. This study has been conducted to generate a new type of concrete by using water hyacinth ash with partially replacing cement. The study is all about the usage of percentage of water hyacinth ash which partially replacing with cement. The various value of percentage has been used, such as, 5%, 10%, 15% and also control mix concrete by using the mix design ratio of 1:2:3 with water cement ratio between 0.45-0.75. The test that used to check the workability and the strength of the concrete is slump test, vebe test and also compressive strength test. The mixed concrete is cast in cubes with the specific percentage value. The casted cube the removed fromthe mould and cured for 7, 28 and 56 days before proceed with the compression test. The test result were compared with the control mix concrete and the concrete with water hyacinth ash and the concrete cube mix of 10% of water hyacinth ash has nearly reached with the conventional concrete cube values. All the concrete mix is made of concrete grade M30.
