The main goal of this project is to develop a prototype of an energy efficient solar street light using intelligent motion sensor to be used in rural areas. Smart Solar Street Lights (SSSL) is powered by solar energy integrated with motion sensors. It involves a comprehensive study and integration on the best solution to reduce energy consumption as well as minimize the electricity wastage by using two sensors which are Light Dependent Resistor LDR sensor to indicate whether day or night time, and passive infrared sensor PIR to control the intensity of LED’s. Solar energy is the main source of the system which is needed in rural areas where the electricity is not provided. The microcontroller ARDUINO UNO R3 is used as a brain to control the street light system. Due to the challenges of supplying electricity in rural areas this technology would be a superior solution for governments in order to overcome these issues, since it provide an accurate function by using a clean energy source which is solar system.en_US
