Abstract
Both the academic and commercial sectors in Malaysia saw the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent implementation of MCO. ODL and WFH's implementation resulted in weekday residential load profiles that were more similar to those seen on weekends in prior years. In this research, we'll look at how much power was used before COVID, during MCO, and after MCO to draw some conclusions. This research also includes a techno-economic analysis of solar panel installations and a determination of the ideal panel size for use in a Kuching, Sarawak, residential area. The case study provided the load profile information for the preceding 10 months. According to the results of this analysis, grid-based energy generation was more cost-effective and environmentally preferable before the onset of COVID. Solar PV systems were previously impractical due to their high upfront cost and negative environmental impact; however, this has changed as a result of the MCO launch, which has led to a spike in energy usage. Even though ODL and WFH are less frequent following MCO, they do persist. The feasibility results for both the grid system and the solar PV system are therefore contradictory. The best array size for a given energy scenario should be determined in future studies by taking into account various coverage percentages. ? 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
