dc.description.abstract | This thesis reports breakdown development of system to be developed in several sections. One of the developments is the selection of suitable sensors to measure oil palm level in a tank. Use the datasheets or specifications that obtained to compare and make selections. Other than that, the electronic circuits for selected sensors for level measuring and representation. The circuit should have power supply to support sensors, an output to represent measured level that can be displayed on an oscilloscope or a multi-meter. In the other hands, the selection of GPS chip is considered, where understand its specifications and communication interface/protocol to acquire GPS coordinates. Moreover, selections of suitable low powered micro- controller with an analog to digital (A/D) converter, communication ports and a display. The A/D will convert analog signal of sensor to digital format. Two ports with appropriate protocols are for communication with the GPS chip and GSM modem. Besides, software for micro-controller that include routines for A/D conversion of measured liquid level, communication with GPS chip to acquire coordinates and GSM communication, level and volume computation, time lapse between stops of tankers and display of relevant values. Furthermore, the types of connection from PC with GSM modem that can be communicate with the micro- controller. The PC has a port for GSM modem and software parts for GSM communication. | |
