This project studies the water solubility in hydraulic oil in a hydroelectric power station. The objectives of this project are to predict the volume of water in oil sump tank, to measure the concentration of water in hydraulic oil and to predict the rate of water vapor dissolve in hydraulic oil. The project started with the background study and intensive literature review on water solubility in oil. The investigation were performed at the ambient temperature of 27 °C and 77% relative humidity of air. The method used for measuring water in oil is by using demulsification method. Centrifugal separation is the chosen technique since it is the only choice available on site. Volume of water removed from the separation process is considered as the concentration of water in oil. The results were analyzed regarding to the theoretical calculation on concentration of water in oil. An analysis on the duration for the oil to be saturated without the separation process was done based on the rate of water vapor dissolve in oil. A correlation between experimental data and theoretical data were discussed in details.en_US
