Abstract
This thesis about the assessment of steel rebar corrosion damage in reinforced concrete by using thermography through qualitative research. Observing the effects of parameters such as time taken from the specimen to cool down and heat up with certain heating temperature and depth of steel rebar in reinforced concrete. A specimen of steel rebar embedded in reinforced concrete was stimulated by microwave radiation and induction heating before being observed by infrared thermography camera to interpret steel rebar corrosion rate. Comparing results of steel rebar corrosion damage in reinforced concrete using the calculation of corrosion rate by the method of steel rebar weight loss and thermography. The rationale of this qualitative research been made due to the durability of reinforced concrete structures is a serious problem in the building industry. Thus, assessment of the condition of concrete structures in order to determine the remaining service life and method of repair is becoming increasingly important. Rebar corrosion is one of the major concerns in the integrity of the concrete structure. It is because it causes the reduction of the structural performance by decreasing the cross section of rebar and the appearing corrosion crack. Monitoring and assessing the structure by a non- destructive testing (NDT) will give an early warning to such degradation.
