This thesis reports the development of method for retinal vessel caliber measurement in CKD patients. The algorithm developed utilizes manual measurement as the segmentation was performed accurately. The segmentation of the retinal fundus image is done by using mathematical morphology in the pre-processing stage and multi-scale line detection in the segmentation stage. The response shown by the vessel through the segmentation is very clear allowing the vessel to be measured properly. The GUI was created to display the results in a clear and concise manner. The measurement results inferred an increase in retinal vessel width in the CKD fundus image as compared to the healthy retinal fundus image and thus the notion of retinal vessel narrowing in CKD patients is dismissed.en_US
