Abstract
The 2.3/2.4 GHz multiband antenna is design to support the operation of WiMAX and the WiFi in Malaysia. Both technologies use the wireless technology thus an antenna is needed. The antenna design needs to be inside these two operational spectrums with a reasonable return loss. This thesis reports the design and analysis of the 2.3/2.4GHz multiband antenna. The main challenge in this project is to design a multiband antenna with both of its operating frequency are close to each other without the interference problem. To solve this problem, a rectangular parasitic strip is added on the design. The project starts with the reviews on the antenna principals and the basic antenna parameter. The reviews also include the previous project papers. The paper review are done to find a suitable antenna design and the antenna parameter that are important in the designing an antenna. A simple 2.3GHz antenna is been done as the basis design for the project antenna. The project antenna is then been design and fabricated using the PCB board. The stimulation result of the project antenna shows that the antenna is able to resonance at 2.300-2.320GHz with -19.728dB and at 2.423-2.443GHz with - 11.5dB return loss. The difference in the dielectric constant of the PCB board and the value used for the simulation cause the difference in the results. The project is unable to proceed due the time constraint. As conclusion the project are able to produce the 2.4/2.5GHz multiband antenna rather that the 2.3/2.4GHz multiband antenna due to the difference in the dielectric constant of the board thus the fabricate antenna failed to satisfy the project objective.
