This work detailed the particle image velocimetry (PIV) experimental approach used for the flow visualization on costal problem, based on the simple case study of liquid-sediment model. The current PIV experiment involved the use of laser illumination system, high speed camera, filler particles and wave-motion generator. Furthermore, the investigated simple small-scaled liquid-sediment model was constructed using a pile of sands in an aquarium tank. The subsequent image processing and analysis were conducted using PIVlab software. From the present PIV work, the velocity contours of the water flow near the sediment profile can be obtained. 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.en_US
