Due to the development in the field of renewable energy sources in Malaysia and the request and for electricity due to the recent change in the environmental conditions, solar based energy systems have suggested a promising result in seeking the solution to the problem. Solar is one of the most important renewable energy sources in the world today, which has captured the attention of many and has created energy that far greener way of supply to the people and less harm to the earth. The use of power from solar photovoltaic (PV) is one method that can be used to generate energy, but it requires other electronic power devices and components to increase its power supply and make it more reliable. The purpose of this project is to design a solar power system with a better charge controller to enhance the efficiency of a battery charging. Commonly, people who use solar energy to generate electricity for their everyday usage cannot extract the best amount of energy from their solar PV and their battery storage because of some specifics factor that leads to less energy generated. Hence, this project aims to build a simulation along with prototype of solar with a better charging to the battery. This is also needed to be consider the cost to build an off-grid solar system while at the same time maintain the quality of the solar energy. The solar simulation and the experimental prototype will be an off-grid solar system (stand-alone) consisting of batteries that allow users to use during the night-time when sunlight and irradiance is not available.
