Abstract
Many countries has develop the usage of rubber tyre in the application of pavement construction. Although it has good review in mechanical properties, it is not suitable when exposed to high temperature. Research shows that the instability of modified bitumen. The use of the additive trans-polyoctenamer (TOR) in asphalt rubber (AR) binders helps to improve their storage stability and to reduce their stickiness while not affecting the low temperature performance of the AR binders and mixes. This paper analyse the outcome of the strength asphalt rubber reinforced with TOR. Addition of TOR has its optimum value when it mixed and react with the modified bitumen. From this research, the optimum can be obtained by conducting bulk specific gravity and marshall stability and flow test. The parameter that obtained from conducting both test were used to find the optimum binder content. It can increase the stability of modified bitumen when added with TOR. The increase of stability is because of the additive binds the aggregate and modified bitumen more stronger and it smoothen the mixing process as well. This research covers three different percent of binder content which is 5%, 6%, and 7%. Whereas the percentage is percentage of the aggregate weight. The outcome of this study shows that the sample that contains TOR have better results of stability and flow compare to samples without the TOR.
