Abstract
This thesis showcases the whole process of design and development of solar powered thermoelectric cooler for automobile ranging from concept design generation until performance testing of the completed prototype in a small passenger car. The project scope was narrowed down to designing the thermoelectric cooler box so that it can be placed in a small passenger car in the middle of the rear passenger seats. The thermoelectric box is located in the middle of the rear passenger seats, the battery and charge controller located at the rear boot and the solar panel was attached on the roof of the car. The solar power system was designed to ensure to generate enough power to charge the batteries and power the thermoelectric cooler box. Further findings from literature reviews on the project objectives give a precise understanding on how the entire design performs. The cooler box was build from plywood and polystyrene which act as the shell and insulation together to reduce heat leakage. The finalized design was concluded and the prototype was fabricated. Upon completion of the prototype fabrication, the prototype undergoes performance testing to ensure it achieves and fulfils the project objectives of this study.
