This paper presents the designing process of balancing mechanism which will be applied at a load transporting robot. This paper was mainly focus on development of self-balancing platform as the main part of the balancing mechanism. Self-balancing platform is a stage or level that will always maintain at symmetrical level regardless the tilt angle experienced on the product horizontally or vertically. Many existing designs and method of self-balancing robot have been researched and studied. The main objective of this thesis is to determine the best method to be implemented for maintaining the stability of walking and wheel robot. This project started off with research process and proceeded with idea generation. Idea generation is basically coming up with different creative ideas to develop an all new design compared with existing ones, the requirements (engineering and customer requirements) were discussed and House of Quality has been developed at the same time by conducting a survey to get the feedback from people or user. Pugh matrix and morphological diagrams were used to come up with a final design. Once the final design has chosen, software development of the design drawings was done by using CREO. Then, the same software which is CREO also been used to define the tension act on the product from the stress analysis of the CREO Simulation. Center of mass between the external load will be discussed. The stability test on the system based on the mini prototype will be shown. 3D printing method was selected as the alternative to fabricate the product. A functionality test on the prototype has been done and the result will be shown in this paper. Further research also can be done on varying the material of fabrication such as Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastics, Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), aluminium or wood.en_US
