dc.description.abstractOn these days, textile industries has grew rapidly in the develop country. The industry is primarily concerned with the design and production of yarn, cloth and their distribution. It is noted that the finishing for their production has used dye colour and chemicals. Because of that, textile industries produce a lot of waste water which can be harmful to the environment if they released the waste water directly to the river or ocean. The problem had boosted the needs of proper water filtration system which is from carbon based. Therefore, the objectives for the project are to study the effect of various activation methods on the properties of activated carbon and to design and develop activated carbon based water filtration system. The project has to be developing the carbon based water filter. A few activation methods have been made for the carbon and the continued by develop the carbon based water filter. For the analysis of the activated carbon, there are a few analysis have been made such morphology analysis, elemental analysis, surface area analysis, bulk density analysis, moisture content analysis and performance of water filtration system. The results of the analysis also discussed in the thesis. Finally, in conclusion the objectives studying the effect of various activation methods on the properties of activated carbon and designing and developing activated carbon based water filtration system was reached. The results can also reduce the dye colour and cloudiness of water.
