This thesis focuses on the configuration of the graphene quantum dot (GQD) and N719- dye on the titanium oxide (TiO2) photoanode in a solar cell. The main objectives of this project are to obtain an improved absorption spectrum from the mixture of GQD+N719 dye, to increase electron lifetime and reduce electron recombination for a smoother electron transport and to study if the different morphological configuration of GQD and N719 on TiO2 thin film would affect the performance of the solar cell. The changes of photoanode configuration was done using two methods. First, immersing the photoanode layer by layer into GQD solution and then into a N719 solution. Second method is done by mixing both the GQD and N719 solution and immersing the TiO2 photoanode into the mixture solution. Based on the characterization results, the mixture immersion gives a better overall performance as compared to the layer by layer immersion method.en_US
