Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current capacity of the palm oil processing plant using model and simulation. We choose to simulate the current installation to analyse the processing operations of the mill and determine the capacity planning measures to undertake in the future to utilize the biomass by using Matlab Simulink. Analysis on the mass balance of palm oil mills has been achieved to obtain precise information on needs to build the model and simulation. Analysis of the mass balance of palm oil factories was conducted to obtain accurate information on the needs and potential of the biomass generated. The results of the mass balance analysis show that the potential of the total 10 ton/hr palm oil mill will produce empty fruit bunch with a total number of 2200 kg/hr, followed by fiber wastes (1460 kg/hr) and shell wastes (282 kg/hr). Analysis of the mass balance operations, including downtime due to machine failure or mechanical problems will be evaluated.
