Changing a monopolistic structure of a power system by a single utility to a deregulation market will create issues largely regarding the transmission losses and efficiency. In order to grasp the operation of power system network from generation to transmission, a power flow tracing methods ranging from real power, apparent power and complex power are being studied and compared. Thus from the comparison study, a real power flow tracing technique incorporating upstream-looking algorithm are being performed in this paper A principle of proportional sharing from topological generation distribution factor are being applied. In addition, a load flow solution of MATPOWER package which is run in MATLAB is done initially comprising of IEEE bus system networks. Results from the tracing by hand-calculation and coding shows that real power fraction from particular generator can be known to supply the individual loads. From the result, monitoring and controlling of generation to transmission can be performed. It is recommended to perform cost analysis in transmission losses as well as efficiency of power producers' participants for future studies.
