Abstract
Currently, the CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels lead to the changes of climate. These impacts extend well beyond temperature rise and affecting ecosystems all over the world. Therefore, Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) is the best process for the low-cost capture of CO2. The selection of the good oxygen carrier is relying on its properties such as high reactivity, high oxygen transport capacity, low agglomeration and many more. One of the most common carbon-capturing technology is CLC. The CLC involved the oxygen from oxygen carrier reacts with fuel inside fuel reactor to produce pure CO2 and H2O. In this study, the effect of the concentration of MgO as an inert support was investigated by using 4 different concentration (1M,2M,3M and 4M). The crushing strength, phase analysis, morphology and surface area were investigated using crushing test, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, respectively. From this study the lower concentration of 1M Mg(NO3)2 was found to have high surface area and low crystallite size
