Abstract
Power meter has been relentlessly improved since nineteen century. In the past, there were two proposed power meters: one is using RFID technology to activate the power meter and second is using Bluetooth to read the power consumed. Today, there are many researches on intelligent power meters. Most of the researches now focus on wireless technology. This project about a design and development of power meter based on XBee technology. The power meter used is an intelligent power meter. It can reads current, voltage, power and even the power factor. The meter is suitable for single phase AC power. Whenever the loads are connected to the meter, the information about the power consumed will be send to the computer via XBee wireless technology. In the computer, there will be graphical user interface software developed to show the amount of power consumed. The values of power shows in the graphical user interface will be updated every 2 seconds. At the end of this project, a small prototype of IoT based intelligent power meter will be presented and shows the power reading capability through XBee.
