Abstract
This thesis reports the characterization of TiO2 doped with bismuth oxide. The outline of this project is to study on TiO2 based varistor. Researches will be done to investigate the effect of dopant bismuth oxide on physical properties of TiO2. The comparison between doped and undoped TiO2 will be done as well. At the beginning of this project, a lot of time is spent on the literature review of ceramic processing, varistor, TiO2 and also bismuth oxide. The progress goes on by determining the percentages of bismuth oxide needed for doping purposes. The project then proceeds by determining the procedures of ceramic processing. A lot of studies on journals are done to specify the processes and details of each process. For example, time needed, amount needed and etc. Each process must be determined and specified so that the ceramic processing can be done smoothly. After the laboratory processes done, the samples will be characterized by its density, shrinkage, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and porosity, and also compressive strength. Discussion and analysis will be done on the result and thesis is written for the whole project.
