dc.description.abstractThis thesis reports the relationship of a permanent magnet attraction force on the ferromagnetic plate in different thickness. First of all the literature review on the related topic for the project was done according to understand the concept of magnetism and magnet. The process of review plays a vital role in explaining the phenomena seen from the experimental results. To perform the experiment, several equipments and apparatuses come in to aid as measuring, force actuation and data collection devices. These equipments include the Instron Tensile Machine, computer desktop with Instron Tensile Testing software, test rigs (magnet clamp and plate holder), mechanical tools, and etc. The Instron machine and the computer software were readily available, which was provided by the facilities in Universiti Tenaga Nasional. However the test rigs were design and fabricated prior to the experiment. The material selection and dimension of the test rigs was designed to suit the nature of the experiment - tensile testing. Experiment was carried out following the careful procedures laid down in order to minimize the error that will inevitably occurred in any experiment run. After the experiment execution, the data collected was being analyzed and discussed.
