Abstract
In order to support renewable energy contribution in agriculture field, an aquarium fish feeder with mechanical timer is design to reduce the usage of energy by savings in consumption of energy and material. The design of prototype is important to analyze the performance of the prototype. For that purpose, the needs of accurate measurement is studied to obtain a best design. This aquarium fish feeder with tipping point mechanism uses flow of water as the timing device. The water flows into a container and slowly fills it up. Once the water in the container reaches a predetermined level, it will receive enough force to perform reciprocating rotating motion. The time taken for the empty container to be filled with water will serve as a timer for the set-up. The container and the food feeder share the same shaft, and because of this, the rotation of the container will cause the food feeder to rotate and release the food pellet. This thesis paper present the method to design and develop of an aquarium fish feeder with mechanical timer. All of the stages and guidelines for the design and construction of this prototype are also describe in this thesis.
