Voltage sag and voltage swell is one common problem faced in term of power quality. One of the factors is due to the addition of renewable energy into the energy mix as we revolutionize generate more cleaner energy. Sometimes due to nature call the supply might intermittently generate power, thus creating voltage sag or voltage swell due to this inconsistently condition. Reactive power will cause voltage to rise or to fall depends on the components that are getting used for reactive power compensation. To ensure the voltage stability, by decreasing the reactive power (VAR), it causes the voltage to fall (voltage Sag) and by increasing it will result in the voltage to rise (voltage swell). In order to overcome this, this paper is focusing in the usage of STATCOM as power compensate method with the support of battery storage system to compensate in real and reactive power. These components are simulated using MATLAB and tested using an IEEE 33-bus distribution test system.en_US
